We’re through Carhaix again, nearly to Loudeac. Tinteniac seems doable, but the night can be unpredictable. Updates infrequent and such, usually while I’m waiting in line for something.
Made it to Carhaix last night, took awhile to get to Brest this morning. Headed to Tinteniac.
PBP Day 1, unedited. Waiting for food in Tinteniac. Napped in Villanes last night. Going to try to push on to Brest today. Sporadic, non existent, or unintelligible updates to be expected.
And we’ve arrived in Versailles, where we’re staying until the start of Paris Brest Paris on Sunday
One last overnight to Mirepoix, a cool medieval half timbered city. PBP is approaching quickly. See y’all in a few days.
MAFAC tire lever. I have a handful of metal MAFAC tire levers, but I’ve never seen a plastic one. Nothing special about it, but the price was right.
Important research in progress: Frame bag holds 3 bottles of rosé
Beat the traffic up Col du Tourmalet by getting out with the sun. The descent passes a non-stop stream of riders going up, though also cars. Counter-point, the ascending traffic prevents downhill cars from passing, or even catching, descending riders. Aside from the occasional uphill driver taking the racing line, the descent off the pass is peaceful and fast.
First train of the day bound for Tarbes, rode to Luz Saint Sauveur. You can see where this is going.
Col du Pradel. 7400ft over just 52mi. A totally stellar day of riding, with baked potatoes in the middle.
